The Battle of the Atlantic

The story of the Battle of the Atlantic is a thriller, if the wolfpacks could disrupt the convoys supplying England with the goods they needed to survive, Britian would be in peril. On August 19, 1939 5 U-boats from Kiel and 9 from Wilhelmshaven took to the North Atlantic with a lot of questions that had to be answered. Can Germany construct enough U-boats to control the seas? Can the allies break the Enigma code to find out what the nazis are up to? Could the technology be developed to find and destroy the menace? The nazis were determined to own the Atlantic and it was going to take a lot of effort from a lot of people from a lot different countries to put a stop to their horrible plan.

General Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “When final victory is ours, there will be no organization that will share its credit more deservedly than the merchant marine.” Let us not forget.
